Namun La Pass Trek – A real sense of adventure in Nepal

Namula Pass is one of remote and less-trodden trekking route in Annapurna region of Nepal. The Namula Pass trail used to be an important trade route between Mangang and Pokhara. The trekking route of Namunla Pass is connected with Annapurna circuit trail: you have opportunity to take the route less travelled and admire the famous peaks of the Annapurna region.

Opened for trekking in 2008, Namun La is paradise unexplored. Rarely visited by outsider, it is one of the most fascinating trail in the remote Himalayan of Nepal. The marvelous and off beaten trek allows to unlock the interesting places, people, villages, valleys and serene forest of pines, oak and rhododendron. The trek also offers the spectacular scenery of Annapurna, Manaslu, Lamjung and other popular Himalayan ranges.

It is one of adventurous treks is Annapurna region and difficult high pass to cross. Trekkers need to be physically fit and mentally prepared, however, no previous trekking is required. October – November during autumn and mid-march to mid-April are the time of the year to trek Namun La Pass.

Legend behind Namun La Region

Legend has it that some three thousand years age, the Tamu community (now Gurung community) has migrated to Nepal from Tibet and made settlement here. So this place is also known as Tamuwan. In earlier days, Tamu community used to have their own king and you can explore the remnant of palace till now.

The sacred lake of Dudh Pokhari is most significant in terms of religious, tourism and environmental point of view. Local believes that those who bathe in this milky lake will be absolved of all the sin attained in lifetime. As a result, trekking in Namun La Pass allows you to perceive the ancient cultural practice alongside the magnificent scenery. Likewise, the region is home to variety of floral and faunal species. The base camp of Dudhpokhari and Namun La Pass (5,560m) is the center point of Lamjung, Manang and Kaski Districts.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu, Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer to the hotel

Day 02: Drive from Kathmandu – Pokhara

Day 03: Pokhara  – Sikles ,1,920 m.

Day 04: Sikles --Tasa ,2,420 m.

Day 05: Tasha -Dharmasala ,3,540 m.

Day 06: Dharmasala- Kori ,3,770 m (two hours walking)

Day 07: Kori ---Thulo tal ,3,960 m.

Day 08: Thulo tal ---Thurchu ,4,010 m.

Day 09: Thurchu/Boksi tal- Phedi via Namun La pass 4,220 m.

Day 10: Phedi --Timang ,2,600 m.

Day 11: Timang ---Beshisahar by Jeep 800 m.

Day 12: Drive from Bensishahar – Kathmandu

Day 13: Explore day at Kathmandu valley, overnight in star hotel

Note= Another option is Treks starts from Timang village Namun la to Sikles or Ghanapokhara to Khudi.
