Trekking to Everest Base Camp is possibly the most dramatic and once in life adventure destination in the Himalaya. Everest Base Camp Trek is ultimate journey for trekkers and introductory expedition bid for those wishing to climb mountain summit. The landscapes and scenery throughout the trail is simply mesmerizing with array of glistening peaks, impressive route, beautiful glacier, age-old monasteries and Sherpa culture that have been still intact from modernity.
Everest Base Camp Trek starts after a scenic flight from Kathmandu and dramatic landing at Lukla: 35 minutes mountain flight. The trekking trail passes several Sherpa villages, lush vegetation across countless ridges: closer to the ice-giant than on any treks in Nepal.
4 Season Treks has carefully designed Everest Base Camp trekking itinerary in such way that allows proper acclimatization and rest period to reduce the risk of Acute Mountain Sickness before conquering the base camp of the-roof-of-the-world.
Trekking along the bank of Dudh Koshi River, we hike up to the hub of Khumbu region – Namche Bazaar, where we spend two nights to ensure proper acclimatization and exploration around. At Namche, we visit National Park with displays of floral and faunal species with culture of Sherpa tribe. We also visit to the scheduled valley Khunde and Khumjung and then trek to Dingboche passing Mong La and Phortse. Our EBC trekking route allows to explore every corner of Khumbu region that any classical treks in Nepal have been simply missing.
The landscapes becomes more wild and picturesque as we trek above the tree line across many gigantic ridges to Gorak Shep via Lobuche, the last settlement of EBC trail route. As the elevation rises, the temperature drops, the landscapes and geography changes into alpine scrub, rock and full of ice.
A morning hike to Kala Patthar serves the arresting beauty of Everest, the South Col, Nuptse and the glacier. After breakfast, we trek down via same route taking 3 easy day to Lukla. 14 days Everest Base Camp Trek cost includes the accommodation at Kathmandu, city sightseeing tour, flight to and from Lukla with multi-lingual guide and porter.
Day01: Arrival at Kathmandu, Tribhuvan International Airport (1300m/4264ft)
After your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our airport representative will meet you outside the terminal Hall. Transfer to hotel, introduce your trekking crew and stroll around bustling city, Thamel. Overnight at hotel.
Day02: Kathmandu – Lukla (2642m/8668ft) – Phakding (2562m/87000ft) – 35 min flight and 3/4 hours trek
After breakfast, transfer to Domestic airport for Trans-Himalayan flight to Lukla-The gateway for classical Everest Base Camp Trek/Khumbu region. Meet your local porter at Lukla airport and follow the trailhead to Phakding via Dudh Koshi River Valley. Overnight at Lodge in Phakding.
Day03: Phakding – Namche Bazaar (3440m/11280ft) – 10 km/ 5-6 hours trek
This day, the EBC trail passes several pine forest, crossing suspension bridges and Sherpa settlements before entering to Jorsale: the entrance gate to Sagarmatha National Park and permit checkpoint. Continue trekking through the confluence of Bhote Koshi and Dudh Khoshi River and climb to the high Tenzing – Hilary suspension bride. The trail continues uphill trek through the forest takes you to the administrative hub of the region, Namche Bazaar.
Overnight at Lodge in Namche Bazaar.
Day04: Rest, Acclimatization and Exploration day at Namche Bazaar.
Acute Mountain Sickness health expert suggests the rest day for at least one extra night before making another alpine trek. Be active: climb high and sleep low.
At Namche Bazaar, enjoy the colorful markets displaying cultural stuffs and visit Sagarmatha National Park Visitor’s Centre. Hike to Sherpa Village Khumjung (3780m/12402ft) where you visit several homes to interact with locals. Enjoy the fine view of Thamserku, Kangtega, Ama Dablam and Everest.
Trek back to Namche Bazaar for overnight stay.
Day05: Namche Bazaar – Tengboche (3870m/12694ft) – 8 km/ 5-6 hours
The trail further descends down through Khumjung community and join a trailhead to Everest at Shanasa. Further hike takes you to Trashinga and you will hike down to go across the Dudh Koshi at Phukitenga (3250m). it is wide and vertical ascend through fir, black juniper, pine, rhododendron to reach Tengboche.
Tengboche features the gigantic view of Ama Dablam, Kantega and Mount Everest itself.

Day06: Tengboche – Dingboche (4360m/14300ft) – 10km/5-6 hours
At today’s trail, we will hike slightly down through the forest of birch, juniper, fir and rhododendron to Debuche. It is a scatter village filled with stone houses, nunnery, chorterns and mani wall. Further, we will cross Imja Khola and climb to Pangboche with close view of Ama Dablam (6856m/22492ft). The trailhead joins the confluence of Lobuche Khola and continues up to Dingboche.

Day07: Acclimatization and Rest Day at Dingboche
This is second scheduled acclimatization on EBC trail route. This rest day will help you gain fitness and oxygen intake at higher altitude. This day, climb up to Nangkartshang Gompa, north of Dingboche that offers the view of Makalu (8463m), the fifth highest peak of the world.
Return back to Dingboche and stay overnight at teahouse.
Day08: Dingboche – Lobuche (4940m/16207ft) – 7 km/4-5 hours
Today, we will go away Pheriche and the trail will go up to the drain of the Khumbu. After an hours of the trek, the path climbs up to the Khumbu Glacier. Almost half of the climb to the moraine is Dughla. We further move on the flat level on west part of the moraine prior arriving to Lobuche.
Day09: Trek from Lobuche to Gorakh Shep (5,160m/16930ft) – Everest Base Camp (5,364m/17594ft) - Gorakh Shep (5,160m/16930ft) – 15km/7-8 hours
Today, we will hike towards Gorak Shep and climb up to Everest Base Camp, then return to Gorak Shep.
This is long but rewarding journey. Follow the windblown rocky path passing Khumbu moraine to the last human settlements of the region, Gorakh Shep. The route further follows the base camp of highest peak, on the Khumbu Glacier: opposite the dreaded icefall.
Trek back to Gorakh Shep for the overnight stay.
Day10: Gorakh Shep – Kala Patthar – Pheriche (4280m/14070ft) – 15km/ 7-8 hours
An early morning hike of 2-33 hours, leaving the village behind, takes you to Kalapatthar. It offers a sunrise awakening of the Himalayan chain. Kalapathar is the vintage point of Everest and feature the close-up view of Pumori (7145m/23443ft), Lingtren (6697m/21973ft), Khumbutse (6623m/21730ft), Changtse (7550m/24772ft), Lhotse (8516m/27941ft) and Nuptse (7861m/25792ft). Moreover, Cho-Oyu (8201m/26907ft) to the west and Ama-Dblam to the south including extensive view of countess peaks.
Trek back to Gorakh Shep and retrace you step to Lobuche. Trek through the snout of Khumbu glacier and continue down to Pheriche for lower and warmer night.

Day11: Pherihce – Namche Bazaar (3440m/11280ft) – 15km/6 – 7 hours
Today, you will descend down to Debouche, rising through rhododendron forest to Tengboche. The long hiking down takes you Namche Bazaar crossing Phunki Thenga and Sanasa.
Overnight at Lodge in Namche Bazaar.
Day12: Namche Bazaar – Lukla (2642m/8668ft0 – 18km/6 – 7 hours
This is the last day of the EBC trek in Khumbu region. From Namche, we will descend to more comfortable altitudes through Jorsale and Cheplung all the way to Lukla. Say goodbye to your porters.
Overnight at hotel in Lukla.
Day13: Lukla – Kathmandu (1300m/4264ft) – 35 minutes flight
After an early morning breakfast, take a return flight to Kathmandu. Transfer to hotel and enjoy free day at Kathmandu. Attend farewell dinner organized by 4 season treks at typical Nepali restaurant with cultural shows.
Overnight at hotel.
Day14: Full day sightseeing around Kathmandu valley
After breakfast, start your sightseeing trip around Kathmandu valley with our multilingual city guide. Sightseeing spot at Kathmandu includes: Pashupatinath (Hindu Temple Complex), Boudhanath (world’s largest Buddhist Stupa), Patan Darbar Square and 2,000 year old Swayambhunath (monkey temple) that stands on the hillock west of Thamel. Interestingly, these are protected by UNESCO world heritage site. After sightseeing, drive back to hotel and preparation for departure. Overnight at hotel.
Day15: Final Departure
