Upper Mustang and Nar Phu Valley via Teri-La Pass Trek is an absolute mountain challenge that only few trekkers dare to take in. It connects two restricted and remote area of Himalayas via Teri La Pass. The exploration of isolated Lo Manthang (Upper Mustang) is followed by treacherous Teri La Pass which links Upper Mustang with captivating Nar Phu Valley.
The Mustang Teri La Pass Trek follows an incredible trail across the almost barren but stunning landscapes of Mustang which was restricted for foreigner till early 90s. The trekking route is close to Tibetan border; offering you great glimpse of Tibetan Buddhist Culture that thrives in this region. Later it crosses Teri La Pass and enter into another restricted area – Nar Phu. Arid landscapes gives way to alpine and lush vegetation and architecture changes accordingly. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Nilgiri, Damodar Peak, Tilicho Peak and Langtang ranges are peak seen during the trek.
Teri La Pass is nestled dramatically in between Mustang and Nar which are the significant region in Damodar Himal. You will enjoy an extraordinary landscapes with impressive rocks of different formations, colorful canyons and striking structures of erosion. The trail crosses taxing Teri La Pass (5,590m) nearby Damodar Himal and takes you to stunning world of Nar Phu Valley where ancient villages and monasteries are set; totally untouched by modernity.

Teri La Pass Trek usually requires 6 – 7 hours trek on rugged and remote mountain trail. Sometimes you may even have walk for 10 – 12 hours. Therefore, we suggest you to prepare yourself by jogging or walking 12 km every day for around 3 months before the trip. Remember – taking on Teri La Pass means, you are considering walking in high altitude and remote area for many days. Apart from excellent fitness, you must have intense passion and ability to tolerate harsh weather. Participants with pre-existing medical conditions like heart, lung and blood diseases must consult doctor before the trip.
No technical mountaineering skills are required but having some knowledge on using climbing gears would be an asset. Previous high altitude experience is also required.

While at teahouses or lodges along the trekking route, the most common food; they serve is Daal Bhaat Tarkari along with some international cuisine like Pizza, Pasta, Mo. Mo. And soup items.

Day01: Arrival at Kathmandu, Tribhuvan International Airport (1,300m)
Welcome to the land of Himalayas. After the completion of airport formalities, you will meet the representative from Four Season Mountain Trek outside the Arrivals Terminal. You will receive you and transfer you to the hotel in Thamel in Private vehicle. Take your time to refresh and settle from the fight exhaustion in the cozy hotel room. In the evening, attend a farewell dinner hosted by Four Season Mountain Trek in finest cultural restaurants.

Day 02:Drive to Syange Waterfall (1100m/3,597ft) – 9 hours
After breakfast, we drive north towards Syange Waterfalls. We take a bumpy road route to Besishar and drive along the river, village and farmlands to Syange waterfall.

Day 03:Trek starts: Syange – Dharapani Village (1,960m/6,409ft) – 6 hours
After breakfast, we start through the dense forest until Chamje and follow the bank of Marshyangdi River until we reach Tal. The trail further continues through cultivated farmlands and pine forest to the village of Kodo and further hike takes us to Dharapani. Dharapani is the largest village in the Manang Valley.

Day 04:Dharapan Village – Koto (2,670m/8,731ft) – 5 hours
Today the trail goes dense fir forest and continues through the river alongside of oak and maple trees. On the way, we get the remarkable views of snow covered peaks.

Day 05:Koto – Meta (3,560m/ 7 hours)
Today we get our permits checked and registered at Police check post of Koto. We trek through dense pine and rhododendron forest and continue following the Naar Khola River that leads us to Meta. On the way, we will not find any lodges until Meta

Day 06: Meta – Phu Gaon (4,250m/ 7 hours)
Today we follow the Phu Khola and walk through the arid valley with a good view of Kangaroo Mountain, Pokharakan and Amotsang Himal. Today we make gentle climb which is not difficult. The first migtants from Tibet settled here nearly 200 years back.

Day 07: Acclimatization and Exploration Day
This is the first scheduled acclimatization period for Terila Pass Trek. Mountain experts believes that it is wise to stay active even in rest days for better acclimatization of your body with altitude so we take a short hikes in and around Phu Valley. We visit local people and explore ancient monastery that was first built by Tibetan migrants.

Day 08:Phu Gaon – Naar (4,110m) – 7 hours
Today we again take a packed lunch as there no lodges or shops along the trail. We climb down to Mahendra Pool which was financed by the ancient King. We cross the bridge and make a steep downhill hike to Naar where we stay overnight.

Day 09: Acclimatization and Exploration Day
Today we enjoy the magnificent view of Pisang Peak, Kangaroo, Pokharakan and Amodsang Himal as we relax for the day before some more strenuous trekking. We take a short 2 hours hike in and around the village to help our acclimatize.

Day 10 - 15:Naar – Cross Teri La Pass (5,595m) – Tangge of Mustang (3,215m)
We spend six adventurous day on our journey to cross Teri La Pass. Today we cross Teri La Pass which was once ancient trade route to Tibet and now is used by local to graze their animals. First we follow Lapse Khola and cross Teri La pass (5,595m). We gradually descend down to Tangge Village which lies in Upper Mustang. We have negotiate series of steep ups and downs to reach the village.
Tangge is a small village with twenty household and largest Chorten in Mustang which is over 50 feet.
Day 16: Tangee – Yara Village (3,600m) – 7 hours
After breakfast, we climb down to the Rocky Riverbed, cross the river and make our way to Yara village. The ups and downs along the trail might test your endurance capacity.

Day 18:Explore Lo Manthang (3,770m)
Today is scheduled as exploration day in Lo Manthang. We will explore Namgyal gompa and Tingkar in Lo. Namgyal Gompa is located atop of hill and serves as an important monastery and court of the local community. After exploration, we make a trek to Tingkhar – a last settlement to the northwest of Lo-Manthang and hike back to the hotel.
We also have option to visit Tall Champa Lakhang “God House” the red Thugchen Gompa, Chyodi Gompa and the Entrance Hall which is the major attraction of the town.

Day 19:Lo Manthang – Dhakmar (3,800m)
Today we veer
west and walk on a downhill trail that leads us to Dhakmar. Here we visit the
Tibetan Monastery called “Ghar Gompa” which was built in 7th
century
by Bodisatwa Monk Padmasambhava. On the way, we can explore many canyons and
eroded hills. Dhakmar is itself a world of red land.

Day 20:Dhakmar – Syangboche (3,800m)
With the company of Nilgiri peak, we make an uphill climb for a while that brings us to Ghami Village. On the way, we see long main wall and pass two more passes with the view of Annapurna range to reach Ja Myung. It is a beautiful village located in between Gheling and Syangboche. Here we can visit age-old Gompas and Monasteries.

Day 21: Syangboche – Tetang
Today’s trail is quite monotonous. We walk through Samar and Giakar Village and stop at Chaile for lunch. The view of Tilicho and Nilgiri Peaks dominates the entire trek. After lunch, we continue downhill to the village of Tetang.

Day 22: Tetang – Muktinath
After breakfast, we make a steep uphill hike for around three hours. As we reach the top, we are rewarded with the best views of Thorong, Annapurna and Tilicho Peak. Next we walk on a gradual pace to Muktinath.

Day 23: Trek Ends: Muktinath – Jomsom
Today is the last day of Teri La Pass Trek. We wake up early to capture the view of sunrise over Himalayas. We also pay homage to Muktinath temple (sacred Hindus and Buddhist temple) in the morning and walk through Kali Gandaki River valley to Jomsom.

Day 24: Flight: Jomsom – Pokhara – 30 minutes
Today we take an early morning flight to Pokhara. Once we arrive at Pokhara, our representative will drive you to the hotel. After hotel check-in and refreshment, there is enough time to explore the Pokhara city.

Day 25: Flight: Pohara – Kathmandu (1,300m) – 25 minutes
After breakfast, we drive to Pokhara airport and take a flight back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel at Thamel. You spend your day resting or buying souvenirs back to home. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner organized by Four Season Mountain Trek in restaurant of your choice.
